Is there a protocol that is followed to ensure my patient is fit for therapy?

Updated over a year ago

At Wellnite, the safety and well-being of our patients are paramount. Before each therapy session, we follow a carefully crafted protocol to ensure that patients are fit for therapy. This protocol involves an intake form and a screening process to identify any potential concerns, particularly regarding suicidal ideation.

In this help desk article, we will provide you with an overview of our patient fitness protocol and the steps we take to prioritize the mental health of our patients.

1. Intake Form: Initial Screening

Before their first therapy session, all patients are required to complete an intake form. This form includes a series of questions designed to gather relevant information about the patient's mental health history, current well-being, and any concerns they may have. Additionally, the intake form includes specific questions related to suicidal ideation.

2. Screening for Suicidal Ideation

Within the intake form, patients are specifically screened for suicidal ideation. This screening helps identify individuals who may be at risk of self-harm or have serious mental health concerns.

3. Referral to the Medical Supervisor

If a patient's intake form indicates potential suicidal ideation or other significant mental health issues, they are immediately referred to our Medical Supervisor. The Medical Supervisor is a qualified mental health professional with expertise in assessing and managing complex cases.

4. Platform Fitness Check

Our Medical Supervisor conducts a thorough platform fitness check, which includes a more in-depth evaluation of the patient's mental health status. During this check, the Medical Supervisor may communicate directly with the patient to gather more information and assess their suitability for online therapy.

5. In-Person Referral, if Necessary

In some cases, the Medical Supervisor may determine that the patient's needs would be better served through in-person therapy or require a higher level of care. If this is the case, the patient is referred to an appropriate in-person mental health service or facility to ensure they receive the most suitable and comprehensive support.
